About Viviane Casimir, Ph.D.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve been drawn to Eastern spirituality. My journey began in my early twenties after an existential crisis shifted my perspective on life and revealed a deeper sense of purpose. I first discovered Zen through books, but it wasn’t until much later that I officially joined a Zen school. Zen saved me—it shifted my guiding question from “What is the meaning of life?” to “Who am I?”

In my early forties, I was drawn to the Zen-aspect of martial arts. I earned a 2nd Dan black belt in Kyokushin Karate (IKO) and received a certificate in Tai Chi Chuan from the New York Shaolin Center. I also trained as a Usui Reiki Master, not yet knowing where it would all lead. Over time, I realized the profound, transformative power of that training in my life and founded Myoku, my personal version of a Zen mind-body practice for daily life.  Since then, I’ve had the joy of witnessing many clients blossom through Myoku practice.

I’m a member of the Kwan Um School of Zen (USA), where I received the Buddhist name Myong Oh. Of Haitian descent, my multicultural background spans Morocco, Canada, and the U.S., enriching both my personal journey and the way I communicate with the world.

My academic and business path is also grounded in diversity. I began with a B.S. in Biology and later earned a Ph.D. in Comparative Literature. I’ve taught at the university level, worked on Wall Street in New York City, and developed Myoku along the way. I’ve published numerous articles on meditation and spirituality in online magazines such as Sivana East, as well as several novels blending Zen and fantasy—including The Three Desert Stones, available on Amazon.

I’ve led Myoku workshops in the USA, Canada, France, and Norway. I’m affiliated with several visionary organizations, including Humanity’s Team, and fully support their mission to make conscious living the future of humanity. I host the podcast “Tea Break With” on the VoiceAmerica platform and, more recently, on WBN-TV. I also co-host a Zen podcast with the Kwan Um School of Zen.

Everything I do and write is intended to inspire others to awaken and embark on their own transformative journeys toward inner peace and self-realization. I humbly contribute to the emergence of the conscious human being of the 21st century—one who lives and thinks in Oneness.

“If you don’t know who you are, you will end up where society wants you to be. If you know who you are, you will end up where you are meant to be in this life.”
